Dr. Profulla C. Sarker Joins as Editor-in-Chief

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Profulla C. Sarker has assumed the prestigious role of Editor-in-Chief at the "International Journal of Social Science and Gender Studies." Dr. Sarker's academic journey is distinguished by an impressive array of accomplishments and contributions to the fields of social work, sociology, anthropology, and more.

Academic Achievements: Dr. Sarker earned his B.A (Hon's) and M.A. in Social Work from the University of Rajshahi, followed by an M. Phil in Sociology. He furthered his academic pursuits with a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Ranchi, India. His scholarly endeavors are exemplified by the publication of 18 books, co-authorship of 3 books, and over 105 scientific research papers in various national and international journals.

Leadership and Supervision: With a wealth of experience, Dr. Sarker has served as the Vice Chancellor (Designate) of Sheikh Hasina University of Science and Technology and as an Adviser at the Royal University of Dhaka. He previously held positions as the Pro-Vice Chancellor of European University of Bangladesh, Vice Chancellor of Prime University, and as a Professor at the University of Rajshahi. His contributions also extend to international academia, having served as a Professor of Social Work and Social Administration at Hong Kong Baptist University-Beijing Normal University, UIC, China.

Global Engagement: Dr. Sarker's global impact includes roles as a visiting scholar at institutions in Australia, the USA, Canada, Italy, Finland, Norway, Fiji, Thailand, Turkey, India, Pakistan, and the Netherlands. He conducted research on behalf of organizations like US AID, Swedish Free Church Aid, Ford Foundation, UNICEF, WHO, UNFPA, Aus-AID, and more. His work has covered a wide range of critical topics, from child survival to safe drinking water.

Honors and Awards: Recognized for his dedication to social development, Dr. Sarker received the Social Development Award from the International Consortium for Social Development (ICSD), Australia, and the Sir Jagodish Chandra Basu Award for Education and Research in 2018.

Current Research Endeavors: Dr. Sarker's ongoing research project investigates topics such as consanguinity, inbreeding, their impact on autism, and the integration of the Hijra community with the mainstream population of Bangladesh.
